The Educator is for single patient use. It consists of a probe and indicator that teaches correct muscle contraction without the use of electronic muscle stimulators. How does the EDUCATOR show you what to do?  If you are pulling up the muscles in the correct way you will notice the tip of the indicator wand will move downwards towards the floor. You might also notice that the indicator wand moves slightly to one side. This is perfectly normal, it just shows that one side of the muscles may be stronger then the other. If you are exercising incorrectly and are “bearing down” as if you were emptying your bowels, the tip of the indicator wand will move upwards towards your stomach. Build on your Success! Once you are confident that you are contracting correctly, practise holding a contraction for 2-3 seconds and then relax slowly. You can use the EDUCATOR to practise making these contractions stronger and longer. A typical pelvic floor training program will take at least three to four months, so don’t expect miracles immediately. |
